An all-electric pickup that tows up to 11,000 lb, with up to 325 miles of EPA-estimated range.
Background
Tesla's Cybertruck is a full-size all-electric pickup with a stainless-steel exoskeleton body unlike any other ute on sale.
Powertrain
It comes as a dual-motor AWD (600 hp, 0–60 mph in 4.1 s) or the tri-motor Cyberbeast (845 hp, 0–60 mph in 2.6 s). KBB lists the battery at 123 kWh.
Capability
It tows up to 11,000 lb, has up to 325 miles of EPA-estimated range and supports Supercharging at up to 325 kW.
On the road
The AWD weighs 6,634 lb. Its sports-car acceleration is very unusual for a full-size pickup.
Market context
KBB lists the AWD from US$82,235. No other electric ute matches its combination of towing, range and performance.
A truck like no other
Tesla revealed the Cybertruck in November 2019 and began deliveries in late 2023. Its flat-panelled stainless-steel exoskeleton body is unlike any other pickup on sale and gives the truck its angular shape.
Powertrains
There are two main versions. The dual-motor AWD makes 600 hp and runs 0–60 mph in 4.1 s. The tri-motor Cyberbeast makes 845 hp and does 0–60 mph in 2.6 s, quicker than many sports cars.
Battery and range
KBB lists the battery at 123 kWh, and Tesla quotes up to 325 miles of EPA-estimated range. It supports Supercharging at up to 325 kW, so it can use Tesla's large fast-charging network.
Capability
The Cybertruck tows up to 11,000 lb. The AWD weighs 6,634 lb, heavy even by full-size pickup standards, a common trade-off for battery-electric trucks.
Market
KBB lists the AWD from US$82,235. The Cybertruck competes with other electric pickups such as the Rivian R1T, Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV.
Why it won
For 2025 no other electric ute matched its combination of towing capacity, range and performance, which is why it is our Best Ute Electric winner.
Who it suits
It suits buyers who want an electric pickup with strong towing, access to Tesla's Supercharger network and, in Cyberbeast form, sports-car acceleration, and who like its unusual design. Its size and weight mean buyers should check parking and garage space.
Our judging notes
The panel weighed towing, range, charging access and performance together. For 2025 the Cybertruck offered the strongest overall set of numbers among electric utes we considered, which won it the Best Ute Electric award. Its design is divisive, and that was not part of our scoring.
Unusual engineering
The Cybertruck's body is made of thick stainless-steel panels that act as an exoskeleton, rather than painted panels over a separate frame. The flat panels reflect what is practical to form from that material, and they give the truck its angular look.
Reading the numbers
The dual-motor AWD's 600 hp and 4.1-second 0–60 time already match many performance cars, and the 845 hp Cyberbeast's 2.6 seconds is supercar territory. The 11,000 lb tow rating matches full-size petrol pickups. Range of up to 325 miles is a best case; towing a heavy trailer cuts range significantly in any electric truck, so owners who tow often should plan charging stops.
Charging
Supercharging at up to 325 kW gives the Cybertruck access to one of the largest fast-charging networks in North America, a practical advantage for long trips.
Weight
At 6,634 lb for the AWD, the battery adds substantial mass. That helps stability but affects tyre wear, braking distances and efficiency.
Practical touches
The 6-foot bed has a powered tonneau cover, and there is a front trunk. Outlets in the bed and cabin provide 120 V and 240 V power, so owners can run tools or equipment directly from the truck. A 48-volt low-voltage electrical system and steer-by-wire with rear-wheel steering are other unusual features.
Who it suits
The Cybertruck suits buyers who want electric performance and a big tow rating in a truck that stands out. Buyers who want a conventional look, or a truck that is easy to repair after body damage, should compare it with more traditional rivals.
Timeline
Tesla first showed the Cybertruck in November 2019, and deliveries began in November 2023 at its Gigafactory in Texas.
Verdict
Love or hate the design, the Cybertruck offers electric performance, a high tow rating and access to an established charging network. That combination earned it this award, ahead of rivals that are more conventional but slower and less capable.
