An electric performance cruiser that runs 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds on 84 hp and 194 lb-ft.
Background
LiveWire, the electric brand spun out of Harley-Davidson, built the S2 Mulholland on its S2 (Arrow) platform, the same architecture used by the S2 Del Mar.
Design
The Mulholland turns the platform into a cruiser, with a relaxed riding position and a 432 lb (196 kg) kerb weight.
Motor and battery
The motor makes 84 hp (63 kW) and 194 lb-ft (263 Nm), enough for 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds. A 10.5 kWh battery gives LiveWire's quoted 120 miles in the city, 91 combined and 73 at highway speed (55 mph). Level 2 charging takes 20–80% in 78 minutes.
On the road
The 3.3-second 0–60 time is quicker than most petrol cruisers. The range figures mean it is best suited to city riding and day rides rather than long touring.
Recognition
The S2 Mulholland was named the #1 Electric Motorcycle of the Year in the 1000PS Top Awards 2025, voted by riders.
From Harley-Davidson project to its own brand
LiveWire began as Harley-Davidson's electric motorcycle project and became a separate, publicly listed company in 2022. The S2 platform, also called Arrow, is LiveWire's own architecture, built so that one battery-and-motor design can underpin several models.
A cruiser on a performance platform
The S2 Del Mar used the platform for a flat-track-inspired roadster. The Mulholland uses it for a cruiser, with a more relaxed riding position, while keeping the same performance.
Performance in detail
LiveWire quotes 84 hp (63 kW) and 194 lb-ft (263 Nm) of torque, with 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Because an electric motor delivers peak torque from a standstill, that acceleration is available without changing gear, which is part of the appeal for cruiser riders.
Battery, range and charging
The 10.5 kWh battery gives LiveWire's quoted 120 miles in city riding, 91 miles combined and 73 miles at a steady 55 mph on the highway. Level 2 charging takes the battery from 20% to 80% in 78 minutes. As with most electric motorcycles, range is best in stop-start city riding and shortest at sustained highway speed.
Weight and handling
At 432 lb (196 kg) the Mulholland is light for a cruiser, many of which weigh well over 500 lb. Lower weight helps at walking pace and in parking manoeuvres, where heavy cruisers can be awkward.
Recognition
The S2 Mulholland was named the #1 Electric Motorcycle of the Year in the 1000PS Top Awards 2025, voted by riders. That rider vote, together with its performance, is why it took the Gold Seal On-road Electric award for 2025.
The rivals
In the electric market the Mulholland's nearest rivals are other mid-weight electric roadsters and cruisers from brands like Zero and LiveWire's own S2 Del Mar. Among petrol cruisers it competes for buyers who would otherwise choose a mid-size V-twin.
Who it suits
It suits riders who mostly ride in the city and on day rides, value instant acceleration and low maintenance, and can charge at home or work. Riders who regularly cover long highway distances will find the 73-mile highway figure limiting.
Our judging notes
The panel weighed rider-voted recognition, real performance and a riding position that broadens electric motorcycling beyond sport and naked bikes. The 1000PS rider vote and the 3.3-second 0–60 time made the case for the 2025 On-road Electric award.
Reading the numbers
The 194 lb-ft torque figure is higher than many large-capacity petrol cruisers, and an electric motor delivers it from a standstill. The 78-minute Level 2 charge from 20% to 80% means a lunch stop adds meaningful range on public AC chargers.
Ownership
Electric cruisers need less routine maintenance than petrol ones: no oil changes and no primary chains or clutches to adjust. Riders should still budget for tyres, brakes and drive components.
Riding position
The Mulholland is the cruiser-style member of the S2 family. Forward-set footpegs and a taller, pulled-back handlebar give a laid-back seating position, while it keeps the shared S2 chassis and Arrow battery and motor architecture. LiveWire's smartphone app shows charge status and range remotely.
Verdict
The Mulholland shows that an electric motorcycle can deliver the relaxed riding style of a cruiser with instant torque. Its range suits day rides better than long tours.
