Full-size performance in a mid-size electric dirt bike: 47 hp in a 102 kg machine.
Background
Rerode is known for its lightweight R1 electric dirt bikes. Rerode says the RX took two years to develop and moves the brand into the full-size performance class.
Design
The RX weighs 102 kg (225 lb), with 260 mm of front travel, a 910 mm seat height and RFloXa suspension tuned specifically for the bike.
Motor and battery
A flat-wire hairpin motor produces 35 kW (47 hp) peak and 790 Nm at the rear wheel. A 97 V 45 Ah (4.4 kWh) battery uses Samsung cells. Rerode quotes a top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph).
On the trail
A 47 hp electric bike at 102 kg fills the gap between light youth-style e-bikes and heavier, pricier full-size machines.
Market context
At a US$6,200 MSRP (pre-order) the RX costs much less than most full-size electric dirt bikes.
A brand growing up
Rerode built its name with the lightweight R1 electric dirt bikes. The RX is its move into the full-size performance class, and Rerode says it took two years to develop.
Motor technology
The RX uses a flat-wire hairpin motor. In a hairpin motor the copper windings are flat bars rather than round wire, which lets more copper fit into the motor and typically improves power density and heat handling. Rerode quotes 35 kW (47 hp) peak and 790 Nm at the rear wheel.
Battery
The 97 V, 45 Ah battery holds 4.4 kWh and uses Samsung cells. Rerode quotes a top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph).
Chassis
The bike weighs 102 kg (225 lb), with 260 mm of front suspension travel and a 910 mm seat height. Rerode tuned the RFloXa suspension specifically for the RX rather than fitting a generic set-up.
Where it fits
Electric dirt bikes tend to split into light, low-power machines aimed at youth and trail riders, and heavier, more expensive full-size bikes. The RX's 47 hp and 102 kg put it between the two, closer to a petrol 250 in feel than to a pit bike.
Market
At a US$6,200 MSRP (pre-order) the RX costs much less than most full-size electric dirt bikes, and that price-to-performance ratio is the main reason it won.
The rivals
The RX sits between the lighter electric trail bikes from makers such as Surron and Talaria and the full-size, much more expensive electric motocross bikes such as the Stark VARG.
Who it suits
It suits trail riders and newer off-road riders who want more performance than a light electric bike but do not need, or want to pay for, a full-size competition machine.
Our judging notes
The panel rewarded value and a clear step up in performance. On the published figures, 47 hp and 102 kg for US$6,200 is a strong combination, and the RX is our 2026 Off-road Electric winner. We will revisit it when independent long-term tests are available.
Reading the numbers
A 4.4 kWh battery in a 102 kg bike is a balance between weight and riding time. A bigger battery adds range but also weight, which makes a dirt bike harder to handle. The 790 Nm figure is measured at the rear wheel after gearing, which is why it is much higher than a motor-shaft figure would be. Comparisons between brands only make sense when both figures are measured the same way.
Suspension and ergonomics
The 260 mm of front travel and 910 mm seat height are lower than a full-size motocross bike, which helps riders who want to put a foot down on technical trails. Rerode says the RFloXa suspension was tuned specifically for the RX.
Ownership
Electric dirt bikes need far less routine maintenance than petrol ones: no oil, filters, spark plugs or top-end rebuilds. Owners should still budget for chain, sprockets, brake pads, tyres and suspension servicing, as on any off-road bike.
Who it suits
The RX suits trail riders who want quiet, low-maintenance riding with strong torque. A lighter frame and a lower seat make it approachable for riders moving up from smaller electric bikes. Because it makes no engine noise, it can be more welcome than a petrol bike near homes and on shared trails, but riders should still check local rules on where they may ride.
